It's been a long time since I've added to the blog. We have been crazy busy but, with the new project underway, I thought it would be cool to share the experience of putting together a 20+ min film.
I remember the original idea originating from a day of experimental shooting. We just got Lucille (our Canon XLH1-A) back from Canon and were test shooting for an digital explosion sequence. She worked so beautifully, it was like our from first day from the factory. It was inspiring...
Bought some HD explosion packs, muzzle flashes, blood hits, and debris from Detonationfilms.com to reinforce the look of whatever was forming at the time.
The muzzle flashes had us test shooting a marine (my brother-in-law Matthew Williams, cool guy) in full fatigues with an Ak-47. (He's running in this pic)
The country side made me think of a platoon of soldiers walking a patrol.
got some shots for compositing muzzle flashes.. comment back if any would like us to post those sequences here online. We foleyed the crack of a live round on a range. Perfectly recorded with our Senn shotgun
The day had the gears in my head beginning to spin... more later
